About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Counselor Education, with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling. I also hold a graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working in the mental health field since 2009. I have experience in a variety of settings including residential treatment centers, inpatient and outpatient mental health agencies. In 2013, I created and began to manage and operate my own private practice. In my practice, my clients vary, working with issues across a broad spectrum of personality disorders and severe and persistent mental illness, down to generalized anxiety, relationship issues and mild depression. I truly believe there is no issue too big or too small to seek counseling for. With your consistent participation, you can make significant progress in therapy.

I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. Your thoughts and feelings matter to me, and I encourage you to share them. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify problem areas and implement concrete methods of achieving their goals and improving their overall emotional and psychological well-being. I believe that the mind and the body are interconnected and that mental health issues can have a detrimental effect on physical health. This is why my approach is holistic and focused on achieving life balance. My clients are my top priority and every interaction is tailored to address each client's unique concerns.

When I’m not working as a counselor, I enjoy spending time with family, friends and my two dogs (a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Pomeranian). I also have a passion for the performing arts and dance and act in a professional manner. I enjoy volunteering and advocating for various disadvantaged groups as my way of giving back to the community.

It takes so much courage to seek help and take the first steps towards making positive changes in your life. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

My Availability: I pride myself on responding to my clients within 24 hours to maintain consistency and availability. I maintain "office hours" for my clients; this means that I check messages several times throughout the day, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. In the beginning phases of our work together, you can expect to hear from me daily if you have written to me. Some clients prefer not to have daily contact and that’s okay, too! I try to contact new clients or clients who are experiencing periods of increased stress, more frequently to provide extra support. If you prefer to exchange several short messages throughout the day, you will hear from me multiple times in one day. For clients who prefer longer, more detailed interactions, you will hear from me a minimum of once per day if you have written me. If you send me a message which I would like to give longer consideration to, I will let you know that it may take me longer than 24 hours to respond. The frequency of contact generally decreases as we work together and you start to accomplish your goals and feel better. At that point, daily contact may no longer be a necessity. We may then message one another every few days or less often. In any case, you will always know what’s going on on my end and I will maintain open and honest communication with you. I am typically off on Saturdays and Sundays, but will check in with newer clients or clients in great need, at least once over the weekend. I am happy to accommodate you in any way that is feasible and am flexible in working together to meet your needs for frequency of contact as they arise.
