About Me
I am a licensed clinical social worker and an alumni of California State University, Long Beach. Currently, I hold a double Bachelors degree in Psychology and African American Studies as well as an Master's Degree in Social Work. I also hold a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and I am close to finishing up my credential as a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor. I consider myself to be a very well rounded therapist. I use a lot of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Motivational Interviewing in my approach. Clients appreciate the fact that I have a unique sense of humor, I am honest and straight-forward and I am able to maintain a foundation in prioritizing what is best for them. I aspire to be a "swiss-army" knife for my patients; constantly seeking educational and training opportunities to enhance my clinical palette. Furthermore, I strive to be an invaluable resource for my clients while encouraging them to become more self-sufficient and adept at problem solving on a regular basis. I am a dedicated husband, father and advocate for diversity and equal rights for all.
Fun fact- I am an avid sports fan, I am a music lover and I am an expert on all things Dora the Explorer! I am a father of two beautiful girls who keep me up on the latest kid shows.
My Availability: I will be available Monday through Saturday, primarily in the evenings after 2PM PST. I will be responding to short messages within a 24-hour window and with longer messages I will generally respond within a 48-72 hour window. I will also check for messages once or twice a day even if I cannot respond right away. Depending on the severity of a particular issue or the amount of attention a client requires, I can be very flexible. I feel that once we enter into the therapeutic relationship and build rapport, we can adjust our schedules and meeting times accordingly. Informed consent and expectations regarding therapy will be discussed on an on-going basis. I truly look forward to working with you and thanks in advance for trusting me with your time and your personal matters.
