About Me
Hello!
I received my Masters Degree in Counseling at the University of North Texas in Denton Texas. I come from a cognitive behavioral orientation although I also use gestalt therapy. I have treated mental health and addiction issues for 22 years. I have worked with a variety of populations including people with HIV and AIDS, addictions and dual diagnosis, couples, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression and PTSD. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I currently have an online private practice in Meridian Texas I can provide Christian based counseling if needed.
I am trained in the stages of change and motivational interviewing techniques. I am certified to teach Developing Capable Young People, a course developed by the late Stephen Glen for caregivers of young people. "My goal for clients is to establish an alliance using love, acceptance, and support. My hope is that clients can take something with them from each session that they can apply to their daily lives.”
My Writing Availability: I check messages daily. My preference is to answer all messages within 24 hours. However there may be a time when I am not able to that. Of course if something is urgent for you then I will respond accordingly. Sometimes I can answer with a short message within 24 hours. Other times it will take a longer message to help you.
Phone availability: I can provide a 10-minute phone call a week without writing sessions. Unused minutes from any week will roll over to the following week for future use within the month.
