About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience in private practice, outpatient counseling centers, and medical centers. I am very down to earth, easy going, and have a pretty good sense of humor. I have extensive experience working with children, adults, adolescents, couples and families; and specialize in trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, Lyme Disease, Military issues, PTSD, and more. I have significant experience with relationship issues, family issues, ADHD, PANDAS, sexual abuse, domestic violence, Asperger's, parenting, life transitions, blended families, and more. I have worked extensively with the LGBT community and have a great deal of experience with the many struggles and obstacles that can arise . I am Level II EMDR certified.
If you are seeking Christian counseling, I am happy to provide that. If you prefer not to bring faith or spirituality into our work, that is absolutely fine as well. Christian counseling is provided upon request; otherwise our work together will not involve faith or religion. I am a Christian who works well with people from every walk of life, regardless of spiritual beliefs. My personal views will in no way affect our work together. I am nonjudgmental and work effectively with people no matter what their beliefs are!
My approach is to be supportive, encouraging, and non judgmental. Wherever you are in your journey, I am here to be with you in that place and be sensitive to your needs and concerns. I will provide you with a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings, and to sort through whatever is on your mind. Together we will look at the obstacles you are facing, and work at breaking them down. We will maximize your strengths, and help you to put forth the best version of yourself.
I know that online counseling is an emerging field, and fairly new to most people. I wanted to share with you a little bit about me so this doesn’t feel too impersonal. I am 55 years old, married, with two young adult children. I love photography, cooking and baking, holidays, kittens, and babies! I’ve had a lot of life experiences that help me relate well to my clients. I’m really just a regular person like everyone else! I live in New England, in a small town out in the country. I'm so looking forward to meeting you and getting started!
My Writing Availability: I will check my messages at least once a day, even if I am not able to respond right away. Generally I will write back within a day or two when we are first getting started and I am getting to know you. After that, I will respond to most messages within 1-3 days, while it may take up to 3-4 days to respond to lengthy messages. I will always try to respond as soon as possible to messages of a more urgent nature, and when my clients are going through times of greater need. I am always open to discussing how I can best accommodate your needs and expectations.
Phone Availability: If you prefer phone counseling to writing, I can provide a 50-minute phone session each week at no additional cost. Phone calls would replace written sessions and the written communication would be limited to sharing tools, exercises, and scheduling.
